National archival information systems 

Sistema Archivistico Nazionale – SAN (National Archive System)

Researchers can find their way through the general map of the national archival heritage through the Sistema Archivistico Nazionale – SAN (National Archive System), which provides a unified access point to the most detailed resources collected in the participating information systems. The State Archives of Palermo can be found in the Guida generale degli archivi di Stato and in the Sistema informativo degli Archivi di Stato – SIAS (General Guide of the State Archives and in the Information System of the State Archives), systems included in the SAN. 

From the SAN it is also possible to access the Sistema unificato delle Soprintendenze archivistiche – SIUSA (Unified System of Archival Superintendencies), which contains research tools concerning the archives protected by the Archival Superintendency of Sicily.

Guida generale degli Archivi di Stato italiani 

For a general overview of the heritage preserved in the State Archives of Palermo, please refer to the volume relating to this Institute in the General Guide of the Italian State Archives: the “Guida generale degli Archivi di Stato italiani” published in 1986.

Sistema informativo degli Archivi di Stato – SIAS (State Archives Information System)

The State Archives of Palermo is also available on the Sistema informativo degli Archivi di Stato – SIAS (State Archives Information System) where the files relating to part of the archive complexes preserved by the Institute have been published. This section is constantly updated.

For the archive complexes collected after 1986, the date of publication of the Guide, and in general for an overview of the access tools of the Palermo State Archives, you can consult the “Strumenti di ricerca” page on our website, constantly updated with new acquisitions and new access tools made available to users.

Digitized Heritage of the Palermo State Archives

The digitized heritage of the State Archives of Palermo is available on the Digital Library of the Institute, constantly updated. The Diplomatico is available on the national digital archive platform Archivio Digitale.
